When the news came about the Supreme Court’s ugly decision (see post below), I have not seen Doris stand up quite so straight in quite a while. “Those bast***s!” was her first response. By the way, I haven’t mentioned lately that you can reserve either or both of her new books that will come out shortly by visiting the “info” and “contact” links at http://www.site.insurgentbooks.com/Info.html Those little books will help her get back on the road to do what needs to be done next.

After watching Granny’s film about her walk across America campaigning for her seat, I am convinced that we women can do ANYTHING we set our minds to, at any age!!
I live in the Phoenix area, and left MY hometown in Concord, New Hampshire, in the blizzard on ’78.
I have always have admired women at any age who are passionate about theier cause, and go after it!
Happy Birthday Granny!
I wish I could be there to wish you in person, a Happy Birthday, but I cannot.
You are to be admired for taking up your cause, going with it, and sticking to it!
To take campaign money, for ‘favors’, is in itself, a contradiction.
Don’t give up-(I’m sure you won’t), and you will win, no matter WHAT the outcome!!
Respectfully,
Susan Piper Moore

Hi …I too am a granny woman who Doris inspired. I’m a gal from the steets of Detroit, who marched to DC. for peace & ending war, who moved to sunny CA in the 70′s
My activism has it’s roots in campaign finance reform & clean money inspired by the late Ted Williams in CA. I now reside in NV, where I followed my daughter & 4 children in 2009.
We are grateful for the life of Granny D, and will miss her since her passing last Tuesday. Her life impacted many and I’m interested to brainstorm ideas regarding how we may expand on her efforts. If you are interested in joining me. I welcome your reply.
Take care,
Linda
Thanks to you Granny D for speaking out about the terrible SCOTUS decision today (21 January 2010). I’m sharing your ideas far and wide!
Happy Birthday, Granny!!
Well, we are all pretty upset about this SCOTUS decision. Who is this so-called “citizen’s” group – “Citizens United” – that brought the suit to the Supreme Court? They appear on their website to be a far right wing organization that opposes everything we stand for and believe in and has an agenda of reformation that should better be called deformation of democracy.
The next thing we know the word “citizen” will be copy written by some corporation and no actual citizens will be allowed to use it.
Well, lets take the weekend off from this event and celebrate your birthday. I’ll also be celebrating my mother’s birthday – January 25 – when she’ll be 98. A few years ago I read your first book aloud to her. She was quite capable of reading it on her own but I loved reading it aloud. We had a great time with it, cheering together at your accomplishments and laughing together at your rye observations.
Now that I know you’ve written two more books, I’m looking forward to reading those too.
Have a great birthday and a wonderful year, Doris! Please let me know if you plan to be in northern California at any time. I would love to meet you!
Sincerely,
Rachel Jacobs

Dear Granny,
I just want you to know what a WONDERFUL you and your speeches have been to me. I’ve read them all! I first heard you at Fighting Bobfest in Wisconsin about 6 or 7 years ago and was mesmerized as your frail little frame delivered the best speech I’ve ever heard … and on a freezing, windy summer? day!
I will be using your words until the end of my life, as I fight not only for an equitable system in this country, but in the world, since like Einstein, Cronkite, Bertrand Russell and many others, I believe the only way we’ll ever solve most of our world problems is by creating a world federation.
Best of luck to you and know you are greatly loved! I have a photo and you and me that I will treasure forever.
